“Our first wedding of 2010 was held in Tuscaloosa at First Baptist Church. Courtney had been working with me for over a year to plan her wedding. She told me up front that she was a pearl and roses kind of girl and her dream wedding would be formal, classy, and traditional but with a simple and timeless feel. Courtney decided on a monochromatic feel with colors of champagne, cream, and white. Working with Carol Riley of Lillie’s Flowers, Courtney and I came up with a design plan that gave the ceremony elegant elements, but we reserved most of the décor for the fabulous reception that was held at NorthRiver Yacht club.
As Courtney and her groom Zach arrived at the club, they made their way down the gorgeous staircase to dance their first dance to How Sweet it is to Be Loved by You. All guests then took to the dance floor and danced to the music of The Leftovers. Guests mingled through both floors of the Yacht Club, which had food set up on each level. Barbara Sullivan of Barb’s cakes provided the fabulous brides cake that was the highlight of the lower floor.
Set against a backdrop of cut crystal windows, it was truly breathtaking. After all had their fill of the awesome array of food, including a carving station, shrimp and grits, crab cakes, jumbo shrimp, plus an assortment of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, and feasting on cake, the guests were given a to-go box of Krispy Kremes. YUM! All had a great time in a beautiful setting, and left after showering the bride and groom with rose petals.
